DEVOTION ~ LIKE HIM

Theme: Like Him

Text: 1 John 3:2&3

 2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.


Growing up, I was scared to be friends with identical twins because it is difficult to know who you are with, in the absence of the other. They look so much alike that it's difficult to spot the difference. This is the kind of image we are called to have in Christ Jesus. The apostle John in his epistle tells us we know not how we will look when Christ appears despite we are much aware we are children of God. However, the confidence is that we shall be like Him in our appearance, speech, actions and what have you. The image of Christ shall not have any counterfeit rather only the original for we shall see Him as He is. If we hope to be with the Lord, then we ought to keep a purified life for He is Holy. Dear beloved in the Lord, do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? It is written, "Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14)". How well do you look like Christ in your marriage, relationships, ministry, workplace, business transactions, and other private life? If you are not like Him, ask the Holy Spirit to purge your heart from filth and purify you to see the Lord.


Let us Pray: Dear God, I look forward to Your appearance but my ways contradict Your way. Forgive me for living a careless life and create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me that I may be purified just as You are pure. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
