DEVOTION ~ ARE YOU CORNELIUS?
Theme: Are You Cornelius?
Text: Acts 10:1&2
10 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, 2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people and prayed to God always.
Cornelius was a Roman army officer who lived in Caesarea. Despite his status in society, he devoted himself to the fear of God rather than to taking pride in his title. He is described as a devoted man who feared God with his household. He made a conscious effort to ensure his household was not left out in obedience to God. Just like Joshua, he has resolved to serve the Lord with his household. Dear beloved in the Lord, we need to determine our families, friends, and neighbors are not left out in the fellowship with God. Cornelius did not just reverend God but also gave alms generously to the people and prayed to God. The Cornelius' lifestyle is a fulfillment of the commandment to love God and neighbor. It was no wonder in the subsequent texts God took notice of him and sent His angel to him. Does your lifestyle depict Cornelius'? Are you Cornelius in your devotion to God and affectionate relationship with others? If you have lapses, invite the Holy Spirit to renew your mind and transform you to do well in your relationship with God and men.
Let us Pray: Father, thank You for using Cornelius to teach us today. I pray for the zeal of Cornelius to have a good relationship with You and men carrying his household along to fill me. Grant me a prayerful spirit to always commune with You. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
