DEVOTION ~ THE AWAITED VISITOR
Theme: The Awaited Visitor
Text: Acts 10:23&24
23 Then he invited them in and lodged them. On the next day, Peter went away with them, and some brethren from Joppa accompanied him. 24 And the following day they entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.
Have you ever had to wait
for guests or visitors that you have been expecting? I guess every sound you
hear makes you feel they are here. You become eager and anxious on their
arrival. In the previous devotion, we learned that the men Cornelius sent
arrived safely where the apostle Peter was lodging and they were welcomed in.
The text for today, talks about their journey back to Caesarea. It seems the
journey from Joppa to Caesarea is two days which was why Cornelius knew just
when to set his house in order before the arrival of Peter. Dear beloved in the
Lord, we need to also develop a strategy to always be prepared and not be taken
unawares. Most of us prefer last-minute rash which often creates unnecessary
tension for us. It also makes us unorganized. If you learn to be time-bound or
conscious of time management, you will never be found wanting.
Let us Pray: Dear God,
help me to be well organized in all that I do. May the yokes of procrastination
and sluggishness over my life be broken so that I can be useful for Your glory.
This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
