DEVOTION ~ YOU HAVE DONE WELL
Theme: You Have Done Well
Text: Acts 10:30-33
30 So Cornelius said, “Four days ago I was fasting until this hour, and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, 31 and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God. 32 Send therefore to Joppa and call Simon here, whose surname is Peter. He is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea. When he comes, he will speak to you.’ 33 So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come. Now, therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God.”
In yesterday's devotion, we learned that Peter was welcomed into a gentile home and to debunk the notion that Jews have nothing in common with the Gentiles because they are regarded as unclean, he narrated his trance and declared God has made us all clean in Christ Jesus. In the text for today, Cornelius expressed his appreciation by telling Peter he did well to have honored his invitation. Obedience goes hand in hand with action. If we claim to be obedient, then we ought to show it in our actions. The apostle Peter heed the voice of the Lord to go with the men to Cornelius' house. To his surprise, it was not just Cornelius that awaited him but rather quite several people. Their purpose is to hear the Word of God. As we carry on with our daily chores, let us avail ourselves of the leading of the Holy Spirit so that we can reach out to people promptly. If we are attentive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, we shall bring glad tidings in our homes, workplaces, communities, nations, and the world at large.
Let us Pray: Lord, help me to be at the right place at the right time. May I always walk in obedience to Your will and bring glad tidings to all people in the Name of Jesus Christ have I prayed. AMEN!
