DEVOTION ~ CAN ANYONE FORBID?

Theme: Can Anyone Forbid? 

Text: Acts 10:46b&47

Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”


In yesterday's devotion, we learned that the Gentiles had received the gift of the Holy Spirit to speak in tongues and to magnify the Name of the Lord. The text for today is Peter's response to what will hinder the Gentiles from being baptized. Many of us have clouded our judgment with tradition and outdated principles such that we are unable to embrace changes. God is not static and has shown in the text that, He shines His light of redemption on anyone who believes in Jesus Christ. The apostle Peter asked a remarkable question; “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” Dear beloved in the Lord, can anyone hinder the Lord's blessings over your life? Never! Therefore, live understanding that the Lord who looked favorably on the Jews did the same for the Gentiles and so your case shall not be different. 


Let us Pray: Almighty God grant me the understanding to know and accept Your will in all circumstances. May I never contradict Your will for my life, family, church, neighbors, friends, new converts, and all that I come into contact with. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
