Theme: Don't Be Swayed

Text: 1 John 5:19

19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.


In yesterday's devotion, we learned that anyone born of God is preserved from the antics of the wicked. The text for today enlightens us that the wicked one (the devil) has influence over the whole world and he negatively influences the world to go contrary to the purpose of God. The devil always presents deceitful theories beautifully to sway the world. An example is in the Garden of Eden where the devil deceived Eve that she would surely not die after eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It is recorded that the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave it to her husband with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked (Genesis 3:1-7). Dear beloved in the Lord, so long as you exist in this world, you ought to be careful lest you are swayed by the evil one. 


Let us Pray: Dear God, I kindly ask that the Holy Spirit shall abide with me to teach me and grant me a discerning spirit to discern the deceit of the wicked one so that I may never be swayed from the truth. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
