DEVOTION ~ YOU'LL NEVER CAUSE SHAME

Theme: You'll Never Cause Shame

Text: Proverbs 10:5

5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.

In yesterday's devotion, we learned that we ought to be diligent by being hardworking rather than being lazy. The text for today weighs the work of the wise person against the lazy person. It is written, that there is time for everything under the sun, a time to plant, and a time for harvest. We ought to know what time it is in our lives. At the time of harvest, we should work effectively to ensure we secure the harvest. The harvest of our lives can be the time to study, nurture children, honor our marital vows, be responsible, work effectively, and get things done well. If we fail to make the best use of the time of harvest, we shall be a disgrace to ourselves, family, and society. Anyone who fails to work during the harvest comes to nothing and causes shame because of the result. Dear beloved in the Lord, never sleep during the harvest for you ought to work while it is day for the night comes where no one can work.

Let us Pray: Almighty God, equip me for every good work, and may Your Holy Spirit instruct me to gather in summer rather than sleep. Make me useful in my marriage, nurturing of children, ministry, career, and all spheres of my life. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
