Theme: A Pillar
Text: Revelation 3:11-13
11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. 12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. 13 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”



Ever played the game of musical chairs? The important thing about this game is ensuring you are not left without a chair to sit on when the music stops. If not, you will be disqualified from the context. This continues until a winner emerges. In today's text, Christ admonished the church in Philadelphia to hold fast so that no one takes its crown. The church is given a promise of reward if it overcomes. The reward is to be made a pillar in the temple of God. Pillars were pictures of strength, stability, and dignified beauty. This the Lord shall perfect in the lives of all who overcome. Aside from this magnificent adornment, the Lord also promises to write divine names on the church;  I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. Wow! How awesome it will be to have the name of God inscribed on us as pillars in the temple of God permanently because we shall not go out again. Dear beloved in the Lord, adhere to what the Holy Spirit is saying to the church and you shall become a pillar in the temple of God. 




Let us Pray: Almighty God, help me by the power of the Holy Spirit to hold fast to Your teaching and to as well overcome the urge to sin. Lord in Your mercy make me a pillar in the temple of God and inscribe the divine name of the Father, new Jerusalem, and Your own Name on me. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
