DEVOTION ~ AN EPISTLE TO LAODICEA
Theme: An Epistle to Laodicea
Text: Revelation 3:14
14 And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, 'These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God'
The text for today is the Lord's epistle to the final church and gives an introduction of who He is to the church in Laodicea. The Lord reveals Himself in three unique ways: Amen; Faithful and True Witness; and Beginning of the creation of God. We shall look at the uniqueness of the Lord in our devotion. First, Christ is Amen! Amen means so be it or let it come to pass. It is recorded in 2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him (Jesus) are “Yes,” and in Him “Amen.” This implies all things God promises in Him are as they ought to be or have come to pass as expected.
Secondly, He is a Faithful and True Witness. The Lord never fails or disappoints. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. The promises of God have been fulfilled and revealed in Christ Jesus. The seed of Abraham and the Royal dynasty of David is established in Christ Jesus. Thirdly, He is the Beginning of the creation of God. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was Christ. He was in the beginning with God and all things were made through Him and without Him, nothing was made that was made (John 1:1-3). This unique nature of Christ is evident in the creation account when God said let there be...and there was... Implying so be it. God is calling on us to live as Christ, be faithful and true witnesses of the Gospel, and cherish creation taking good care of nature as we ought to.
Let us Pray: Almighty God, teach my heart to embrace everything You have purposed for my life and make me a faithful and true witness to the Gospel. I pledge allegiance to care for Your creation. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
