DEVOTION ~ STRENGTHEN WHAT REMAINS
Theme: Strengthen What Remains
Text: Revelation 3:1c&2
“I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. 2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.
In yesterday's devotion, we learned that an Epistle was sent to the church in Sardis addressed by Jesus who holds the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars. The text for today cautions the church to strengthen what remains. The church in Sardis just like most of us has been acknowledged to be spiritually alive but is dead. This is because we have held on for far too long our past glories and have not equipped ourselves for any good work in the Lord's Vineyard. Dear beloved in the Lord let us be watchful, for our works have not been found perfect before God and what remains is equally battling for survival. When hot coal is not kindled, it becomes cold or put off, so we become if we fail to set flame the gift of the Spirit in us. Our spiritual maturity can only improve if we devote ourselves to the study of the Word of God, prayer, and not neglecting the gatherings of the brethren. To strengthen what remains let us begin to bear the fruit of the Spirit.
Let us Pray: Almighty God, You can determine what is alive and dead. Please awaken me from every spiritual slumber and grant me the grace to strengthen what remains in me. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
