CHARACTER STUDY ~ GAIUS
The name Gaius is of Latin origin which means "To Rejoice" and biblically is said to mean "Lord or earthly man". He was mentioned in the New Testament epistles. The name may likely be for just an individual or different people who advanced the Gospel with the apostles.
Some Characteristics of Gaius:
√ Gaius was mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles as a travelling companion of the apostle Paul, along with Aristarchus. It is believed he hails from Macedonia.
√ Gaius is said to be a resident of Derbe. He was named as one of Paul's seven travelling companions who waited for him at Troas to journey to Asia. We must emulate Gaius to assist others in the advancement of the Gospel.
√ Gaius was baptised by the apostle Paul in Corinth. Baptism is an essential element of the faith which we must not skip. The journey with the Lord behind with baptism.
√ The apostle Paul mentioned Gaius to have extended greetings to the church in Rome. He was at that time hosting the apostle Paul in his house. We must learn to extend helping hands to others and be hospitable.
√ Gaius was mentioned in the third epistle of John where he was warned by the apostle not to be influenced by Diotrephes. May we not be weary in doing good.
√ There's no record of the death of Gaius in the Bible although other Christian literatures might have it.
