DEVOTION ~ NOT TO BE SO

Theme: Not to be So
Text: James 3:9&10
9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

Previous devotions have taught us how destructive the tongue can be. The text for consideration today informs us that the tongue we honour the Name of the Lord with is what we use again to curse others. This must not be so because it defies the Lord's glory in us. We are made in the likeness of God; therefore, when we release curses over other people, we are dishonouring God. May our lips be filled with the right utterances at all times. Dear beloved in the Lord, studying the Word of God and meditating upon it influences our word choice. Therefore, let us employ this mechanism so that we may utter words that bring honour to God.

Let us Pray: Almighty God, to You I commit my tongue and seek that Your praise shall fill it. May godly words proceed from it to bring glory and honour to Your Name. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
