DEVOTION ~ GLORY ATTRACTS REMEMBRANCE
Theme: Glory Attracts Remembrance
Text: John 12:16
16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.
Oftentimes, when we are over tensed we hardly recall incidents. However, when we are relaxed, we can easily recall. Think of the pressure during an examination sometimes, we forget simple things but easily recall when not under duress. This was what the disciples of Jesus experienced. The disciples might have read much about the Messiah but didn't understand it. In today's text, we see a fascinating moment where the disciples reflect on the events surrounding Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. It’s intriguing how they didn’t fully grasp the significance of what was happening at the time. They remembered the prophecy, but it wasn’t until after Jesus was glorified that the pieces fell into place. This highlights a profound truth: sometimes, we only understand the divine plan in hindsight.
Previous devotion taught us that people welcomed Jesus with palm branches on the road as He entered Jerusalem. The palm branches they waved were symbols of victory, yet they were unaware that true victory would come through suffering and sacrifice. This moment challenges us to consider our own understanding of faith. Are we, too, caught up in the surface-level excitement, missing the deeper meanings? It’s a call to look beyond the immediate and trust in the unfolding of God’s greater narrative, even when it’s unclear.
Let us Pray: Almighty God, be my Light and guide when challenges surround me. May Your glory always bring to remembrance the joy in following You so that I'll hold on till the end. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
