DEVOTION ~ THE LAST SUPPER

Theme: The Last Supper
Text: Luke 22:14-16
14 When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. 15 Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

Previous devotion taught us that Jesus requested His disciples to prepare a place for the Passover meal. Today's text focuses on the day of the Passover and its unfolding events. What was your experience the last time the entire family was together to feast or dine? Guess it was such an awesome moment to behold, and you wished it would be a daily affair. In reflecting on the essence of the Last Supper, we are struck by the profound significance of this moment. Jesus gathers with His disciples, sharing a meal that transcends mere sustenance. He speaks of eagerly desiring to eat this Passover with them, highlighting the deep connection and love He has for His followers. This meal is not just a farewell; it’s a covenant, a promise of redemption.

The Last Supper is a call to remember, to reflect on the depths of His love and the new life He offers. It’s a moment that invites us to partake in an intimate and transformative relationship, reminding us that through Him, we are never alone. The Last Supper is not the end but rather the beginning of a new dawn—a dawn of hope and assurance that the Kingdom of God is our ultimate destination.

Let us Pray: Almighty God, I invite You into my life to be Lord over it. May the covenant in Christ deepen our relationship and may I someday partake of the Passover meal with You in Your Kingdom. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
