DEVOTION ~ THE LIVING HOPE
Theme: The Living Hope
Text: Luke 24:4-7
4 And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. 5 Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, 7 saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ”
Yesterday's devotion taught us that some women came to the tomb of the Lord very early on the third day but did not find His body. In today's text, we shall delve into the question asked by the angel, "Why look for the living among the dead?" This profound statement challenges us to reconsider where we place our hope. The resurrection of Jesus is not just a historical event; it’s a radical declaration that life triumphs over death. The angel’s words remind us that in moments of despair, we often search for answers in places that hold no life, like past regrets or lost dreams.
Instead, we’re called to seek the living Christ, who transforms our darkness into light. This message is a powerful invitation to embrace new beginnings, to find hope in the midst of hopelessness, and to recognise that true life is found in faith, not in the shadows of the past. It’s a reminder that our journey doesn’t end in the grave; it begins with the promise of resurrection. Jesus is the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in Him shall never perish.
Let us Pray: Almighty God, grant me hope amid hopelessness. I receive the grace of the resurrection and activate my faith to trust God for the best in life. This I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMENE
