DEVOTION ~ THE EFFECTIVE FERVENT PRAYER

Theme: The Effective Fervent Prayer
Text: James 5:16
16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Yesterday's devotion taught us that we ought to pray during difficulties. The text for today calls us to confession and prayer. We must open up or confess the wrongs we've done secretly, willfully, and presumptuously, so we don't get drowned in a guilty conscience. If we openly make known to those we share the same faith with, it opens the door for spiritual oneness. This spiritual oneness is built on righteousness in Christ Jesus that stirs up the effective fervent prayer atmosphere ablaze when we come together to pray as Christian believers. Our prayer brings healing and restoration because we have no skeletons in the cupboard that will put fear and panic in us. Fear and doubts weaken a fervent prayer, and so do not make it effective. Dear beloved in the Lord, shake off every guilt of sin by confessing it and asking for forgiveness. Our forgiving Father will reach out with mercy, pardon all your guilt, and cause your prayers to avail much.

Let us Pray: Almighty God, have mercy upon me for keeping secret, willful and presumptuous sins. Lord, forgive me and cleanse me with the precious Blood of the Lamb of God. Equip my tongue with fervent prayers that avail much. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
