DEVOTION ~ THE RIGHTEOUS REQUIREMENT
Theme: The Righteous Requirement
Text: Romans 8:3-4
3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Yesterday's devotion taught us that there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ who walk according to the will of the Spirit. Jesus' death on the cross has wiped clean our slate of sin and given us a chance to live righteously. The law of Moses, which we have learned, was difficult to keep, as a breach in one commandment violates the entire law. For the righteous requirement of the law to be fulfilled, Jesus came in human nature to lay His life for us. He who knew no sin was nailed to the cross for sinners: One man should die for the people rather than for the whole nation to be destroyed. We no longer live by our own standards, but rather we humbly surrender to the will of the Holy Spirit. Dear beloved in the Lord, if you are still walking in the flesh, then you are subject to the law of Moses, and it condemns you. Embrace Jesus today to fulfil the righteous requirement of the law.
Let us Pray: Almighty God, I surrender to the will of the Holy Spirit today. Come and have Your way in me that I may dwell in Your House all the days of my life. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
