DEVOTION ~ DO NOT TRANSGRESS
Theme: Do Not Transgress
Text: Psalms 17:3-4
3 You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. 4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of Your lips, I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer.
Yesterday's devotion taught us that God knows and sees all things. David continues to show that his heart and mind are far from evil in today's text. The presumption is that this Psalm was written after his numerous attempts to spare King Saul's life, despite the King's evil intent towards him. Dear beloved in the Lord, we ought to watch and not allow people's attitude towards us to cause us to sin or fall into wickedness. Resolve not to permit evil out of your mouth due to the deeds of others. The secret to overcoming the lures of sin is to keep God's Word in our hearts and avoid the path of ungodliness. Invite the Holy Spirit to make home in you so that your ways may please God.
Let us Pray: Almighty God, I know I'll be found wanting if You should test my heart. Therefore, I present my whole life to You today and ask that Your Holy Spirit fill me and guide every action of mine. Help me not to transgress in deeds and words. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
