DEVOTION ~ PLEASE THE LORD

Theme: Please the Lord 

Text: Ecclesiastes 7:23-26

23 All this I have proved by wisdom. I said, “I will be wise,” but it was far from me. 24 As for that which is far off and exceedingly deep, who can find it out? 25 I applied my heart to know, to search and seek out wisdom and the reason of things, to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness. 26 And I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are fetters. He who pleases God shall escape from her, but the sinner shall be trapped by her.


The preacher at this point tried to draw our attention to the Almighty God. He believed a walk with God is sure to help us escape the trap of the wicked. On the contrary, anyone who departs from God is sure to fall into the trap of wickedness. Dear beloved in the Lord, some things are far from our reach or understanding. There are things that God delivers us from. Sometimes, He delivers us through it. God should never be an option in our lives, but rather our source of existence. God's commitment is total and will protect anyone who trusts Him. Be informed that anything that seduces or entices in life has a dead end because the passion it comes with is a snare, and the soft hands (seductive touches) are chains that bind destinies and potentials that can never be tapped into. In Christ, these evil chains shall fall, and you shall be loosed. 


Let us Pray: Almighty God, grant me an obedient heart to please You in all that I do or say. Deliver me from evil snares that entice. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
