DEVOTION ~ YOU'RE MADE RIGHT

Theme: You're Made Right
Text: Ecclesiastes 7:27-29
27 “Here is what I have found,” says the Preacher, “Adding one thing to the other to find out the reason, 28 Which my soul still seeks but I cannot find: One man among a thousand I have found, but a woman among all these I have not found. 29 Truly, this only I have found: That God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes.”

Man has been a perfect masterpiece of God. He created us wholly in His image without flaws. However, the sins of Adam and Eve tainted the glory of man. In the concluding verses of Ecclesiastes seven, the Preacher reveals his curious intent and what its outcome was. First, he realised experimental living does not always prove a point. He simply reveals that man cannot find reasons for everything that happens on this earth because we don't know beyond our abilities.

Second, he also stated he could find a rare man in a thousand but not a woman. His numerous wives and concubines may have failed him in his search for a rare woman. Probably, he noticed they might all have similar characteristics. With his wisdom, he realises it's all vanity to have numerous wives, for God's reward to man is a wife (Ecclesiastes 9:9). His assertion was fully affirmed in the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31, which is ascribed to him.

Lastly, the Preacher reveals what led to the fall of man. Our passion to have, even what isn't ours, has led us astray from God's purpose for our lives. Thanks be to Jesus, we can be made righteous in His righteousness. Dear beloved in the Lord, we can only have our original blueprint in Christ Jesus.

Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for staining my garment of righteousness and help me to walk in the righteousness of Christ wholeheartedly. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
