DEVOTION ~ CORRECTION

Theme: Correction Text: Proverbs 13:18 18  Poverty and shame will come to him who disdains correction,  but he who regards a rebuke will be honoured. We make mistakes and bad decisions at some point in time in our life journey. Correction is what we need to realign ourselves to the rightful path. Anyone who disdains correction isn't ready for improvement. Such a person wallows in ignorance and ends up amounting to nothing. However, if one takes heed to corrections, he will daily improve and attain honour in society. Rebukes could be harsh but be guided by them so you don't fall prey to disgrace. PRAYER: Lord Your Word is a corrective tool for Your children. Help me to daily read and meditate on Your Word. Encourage me by the power of the Holy Spirit to accept Your corrections and be a better person each day. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ FAITHFUL AMBASSADOR

Theme: Faithful Ambassador  Text: Proverbs 13:17 17  A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful ambassador brings health. This text gives an insight into how wrongful it is to be quick in delivering bad news. A wicked messenger is anyone who hastens to pass on information without critically assessing the result or consequential effect of his message. Such an individual will surely fall into trouble. Taking clues from the Amalekite who brought the message of Saul's death to David. He thought by presenting the message falsely, he will end a reward but ended up being killed (2 Samuel 1:1-16).  However, a faithful ambassador (anyone who propagates the Gospel is an ambassador for Christ) brings health. There is life in the Gospel and it refreshes the soul that meditates on it. As we advance the Gospel, we make our communities and the world a better place to live in. God's Word is a hundred per cent guide or compass in life to anyone who reads and take...

DEVOTION ~ KNOWLEDGE

Theme: Knowledge  Text: Proverbs 13:16 16  Every prudent man acts with knowledge, b ut a fool lays open his folly. Our experience over the years help us to acquire knowledge. This guides us to be mindful of how we live. Knowledge guides us to know when to speak or be silent. This makes one prudent. This is not so with the fool, for he lays open his folly with much talk. The fool has no restraint of his tongue and is trapped by his very own words. Do not just pass through the stages of life without acquiring knowledge; learn from mistakes and achievements to become prudent. PRAYER: Gracious Father, help me to learn from my yesterday, build a better today and live prudent in the years ahead. Thank You for making it possible in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Blessed be Your Name Gracious God for inviting us to unite with You in Christ Jesus. We thank You for life, protection and provision. Indeed, our hallelujah is in Your Holy Name. Take glory, honour and adoration for all the daily benefits You have loaded us with.  It is written and forever remains written, "Ask anything in My Name and it shall be granted unto you". I stand on this promise of Jesus Christ to declare, that all things are fallen in the rightful places for me in my family, workplace, ministry, church, community, nation, business, health, and every area of my life. I decree my days are filled with good news and any contention in any area of my life had been truncated by the power of the Holy Spirit. I release favour, peace, prosperity, and all heavenly blessings over my week in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN! Supporting text: John 14:13&14

DEVOTION ~ UNDERSTANDING

Theme: Understanding  Text: Proverbs 13:15 15  Good understanding gains favour, but the way of the unfaithful  is  hard. We can only get along well with others if we understand them. Usually, without understanding, life becomes challenging as we relate with others in our daily lives. It's one thing understanding others and another thing gaining an understanding. If we listen more, we will know what our relations are trying to communicate to us. We also need to explore the world around us to gain insight (understanding of our environment). We gain favour when we blend understanding others and advancing our knowledge base. However, if we fail to commit to it, we will face challenging moments. As it is stated,  the way of the unfaithful is hard. Be faithful in every aspect of your life and it will help you to gain understanding to pave way for you to be favoured.  PRAYER: Abba! Father, grant me divine understanding in all areas of my life. ...

DEVOTION ~ THE WORD

Theme: The Word Text: Proverbs13:13&14 13  He who despises the word will be destroyed, but he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.  14  The law of the wise is a fountain of life, t o turn one away from the snares of death. All we need for survival both physically and spiritually is the Word. The Word is truth and anyone who is led by the Word walks in liberty and is not afraid. So if you despise the Word, you will be destroyed. You will walk in darkness and will never locate your destination in life.  However, anyone  who fears the commandment will be rewarded for the Lord is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. The Lord God is all-wise and knowing so His laws (to love Him and our neighbours) are a fountain of life. If we keep to the law of love, we will live at peace with all. We will never be entangled in the snare of betrayal, hatred and revenge which most often lead to death. Speak the Word, act the Word and l...

DEVOTION ~ HOPE DEFERRED

Theme: Hope Deferred  Text: Proverbs 13:12 12  Hope deferred makes the heart sick, b ut when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. Hope is our expectation, aspirations or desire we look forward to manifesting in our lives. Most people become anxious when hoping for the manifestation of their desire. So if it delays beyond the timing of the individual, it implies the hope has been deferred. Imagine being at the bus stop as early as possible hoping to board the bus on time to reach your destination much earlier than expected. Unfortunately, the bus has been delayed for more than an hour. How will you feel? Guess you will be disheartened. That's exactly how the heart becomes sick when hope is deferred. However, if the bus happens to come at the expected time, oh mine! You will be glad as your day has been saved. The Lord's timing is what we all need to work at than depending on ours. God never fails and keep in mind, with the Lord, a delay is not denial....

DEVOTION ~ DISHONEST GAIN

Theme: Dishonest Gain  Text: Proverbs 13:11 11  Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, b ut he who gathers by labour will increase. As the world goes through difficult times due to COVID 19 and other health-challenging issues, we've seen how some have seized such opportunities to cheat others. Being dishonest simply could be said as not being sincere or true to what one claims to be saying or doing. So when you dupe others to increase your wealth, grades, or any other situation then you have gained dishonestly. Such gains will diminish as you advance in life; either people will come to know of it and disassociate from you or it will ruin you. However, if you labour to gather your gains in every area of your life, you will increase in wealth, health, wisdom, favour, have more customers or associates, and enlarge your business. Never desire the cheapest route to success work at it and you will enjoy its fruit.  PRAYER: Dear God, I bless Your Name for teac...

DEVOTION ~ STRIFE OR WISDOM?

Theme: Strife or Wisdom? Text: Proverbs 13:10 10  By pride comes nothing but strife, b ut with the well-advised  is  wisdom. The proud never heeds advice but believes his abilities are enough to make him successful. In doing so, he struggles to achieve his objective which could have been effortlessly achieved if he had paid heed to advice. There's always contention with the proud as he always wishes to prove he is superior in what he does. Anyone who receives instruction and consults experts is said to be well-advised. Such a person is filled with wisdom. He will not need to strive to succeed. Dear beloved in the Lord, seek wisdom in all you do and it shall bring you to an expected end. PRAYER: Dear God, grant me the spirit of humility and help me to locate the right people at the right time in all that I do that it might be well with me. This I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Prayer answering God, I thank You for Your unfailing love towards me. You answer even before I call Your Name. What an awesome God You are. May generations unto generations never fail to honour Your Majestic Name. Praise the Lord! I decree in the Name of Jesus Christ, I am set free from any form of limitation, hindrance, affliction, curse, satanic decrees and imagination. I proclaim by faith I am a seed of Abraham and fully enjoy every form of blessing as his seed. I conquer, subdue and triumph in every area of my life in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN! Isaiah 65:24; Galatians 3:23-29

DEVOTION ~ THE LAMP OF THE WICKED

Theme: The Lamp of the Wicked Text: Proverbs 13:9 9  The light of the righteous rejoices, b ut the lamp of the wicked will be put out. Jesus is our righteousness and we rejoice in His marvellous Light when we trust every area of our lives to Him. His Light leads as the psalmist put it, " Your word  is  a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalm 119:105). But this is not so for the wicked for their lamp shall be put off. The wicked do their deeds in the dark for they are exposed when light shines on them. No one is ready to surrender to the wicked to lead them for sure the result shall be disastrous. It is for that their lamps shall be put off. Their expectation shall be frustrated and will not be permitted to come to fruition. Do not desire the lamp of the wicked for it will be put out. PRAYER: Thank You Lord for the Light of Your righteousness and that my lamp in Christ Jesus shall never be put out. Let Your word be a lamp to my feet and a light to m...

DEVOTION ~ THE RANSOM

Theme: The Ransom Text: Proverbs 13:8 8  The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, But the poor does not hear rebuke. In yesterday's devotion, we learned in Christ we have great riches. Today's text gives a deeper insight into what the riches in Christ do for us. We are ransom from damnation. The riches in Christ Jesus redeem us and strategically put us in a place of honour and not shame. However, the poor in this context could be said to be anyone who hasn't accepted Christ. Those in the world often believe they are on top of issues but least do they know they have no clue about life. In their arrogance, they do not adhere to instruction and do not value rebuke. Dear beloved in Christ, we have been ransomed in the riches of our Saviour. PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, for the grace of being ransomed in Christ Jesus. Guide me to walk in His riches diligently and faithfully so that I might not abuse Your loving kindness. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ ARE YOU RICH OR POOR?

Theme: Are You Rich or Poor?  Text: Proverbs 13:7 7  There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing;  And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches. Today's text will be looked at from two perspectives; the physical and spiritual. In our normal living, some who do not have yet will force to look as though they have. This puts great pressure on them and drains them financially and emotionally. Dear beloved in the Lord, do not kill yourself to please people who will mock you when you fail woefully. Instead, invest your resources in things that will bring honour to your name. Live simple and look good.  In Christ, we have great riches. Enjoying the pleasure of this age does not guarantee great riches. It will amount to nothing as the desire of the soul to be saved will not be met. If you have Christ you are saved and have great riches. Taking clues from the rich man and Lazarus, we learned how their lives ended after death. If you h...

DEVOTION ~ RIGHTEOUS OR WICKED?

Theme: Righteous or Wicked? Text: Proverbs 13:5&6 5 A righteous man hates lying, but a wicked man is loathsome and comes to shame. 6 Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless, but wickedness overthrow the sinner Our ways determine whether we are righteous or wicked. A righteous man is filled with the Holy Spirit and walks in truth, so there is no deceit or lie in such a soul. However, the wicked takes up the nature of the devil to hurt others through deceit. The wicked lies at all times and is brought to shame when the truth is revealed. Jesus Christ our righteousness guards our path and does not lead us into temptation but delivers us from all forms of evil. If we fail to adhere to our Lord, the accuser of the brethren lies in weight to lead us to destruction. We are to stand firm so we do not fall for the luring lies of the devil. Choose the path of the Lord and you shall walk in righteousness. PRAYER: Thank You Abba! Father for grace in Christ Jesus to be called righte...

DEVOTION ~ DESIRES OR RICHES?

Theme: Desires or Riches? Text:  Proverbs 13:4 4  The soul of a lazy man desires and has nothing, b ut the soul of the diligent shall be made rich. We all have dreams and it's our desire these dreams come to pass. However, dreaming is not enough to accomplish these desires of ours. The lazy soul keeps imagining without taking any proactive steps to achieve his dream. So because he does nothing to achieve such desires, he will have nothing. Take for instance a student who desires to excel in academics yet does not have time to study, he will never make good grades if he does not study. Likewise, in any area of our lives we desire to see growth yet neglecting work on it will produce no result. If we work hard, then we shall achieve all the desires of our lives for the diligent soul shall be made rich. PRAYER:Thank You, Lord, for the power of Your Word. Empower me to be diligent in all that I do and to know a false balance amounts to nothing but diligence give...

DEVOTION ~ GUARD YOUR MOUTH

Theme: Guard Your Mouth Text: Proverbs 13:3 3  He who guards his mouth preserves his life, b ut he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. In yesterday's devotion, we learned the fruit of our mouths is the result of what we say or/and do. Today's text is enlightening us to guard our mouths. The ability to be mindful of what comes out of your mouth makes you able to rule over your entire being. A loose talker will be ruined by his own words. His words shall ensnare him and destroy him completely. Most often, attention seekers always want to utter words to draw people to listen without weighing what comes out of their mouths. Dear beloved in the Lord, you can preserve your life and soar higher if you can bridle your tongue. Listen more, speak less and be slow to anger then you can conquer the world.  PRAYER: Dear God, let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight. This I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ THE FRUIT OF YOUR MOUTH

Theme: The Fruit of Your Mouth Text: Proverbs 13:2 2  A man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth, b ut the soul of the unfaithful feeds on violence. The fruit of our mouth is the result of our actions. What we say or/and do has a lasting impact on our lives. We ought to discipline ourselves to follow the dictates of our Lord Jesus Christ. If we speak peace and act on it, we will enjoy peace so is the reverse true to happen when we refuse to seek peace. An unfaithful person is always positioned on the defensive side to breathe violence when his/her evil deeds catch up with him/her. Doing everything possible to win does not necessarily mean you won if you use dubious means, the replication will soon locate you woefully. Do good so you can enjoy the fruit of your mouth.  PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, for You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek and please You. Lead me to the path of righteousness so that I may not walk the path of violence and unfaithfulness. Bles...

DEVOTION ~ A WISE CHILD

Theme: A Wise Child Text: Proverbs 13:1 13  A wise son  heeds  his father’s instruction,  but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke. Heeding instruction is a key way to walk in the precepts of the Lord. God is our Father and requires us to do His will. It is only the wise child that heeds his/her father's instruction. However, the scoffer does not listen to rebuke. His scornful nature leads him astray as he feels he has all the answers to his foolishness. An African old proverb has it that, a fly that does not listen to advice follows the corpse to its grave. So it will be for the scoffer who is not ready to be corrected. Dear beloved in the Lord, choose to be wise.  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  PRAYER: Thank You Lord for guiding me on the path of righteousness. Help me Holy Spirit to heed the Lord's voice in all that I do. This is my prayer. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ BELIEVE!

Theme: Believe! Text: John 3:14-17 14  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so   must the Son of Man be lifted up,   15  that whoever   believes in Him should   not perish but   have eternal life.   16  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten   Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.   17  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Charles H. Spurgeon's quote on faith in the Lord gives understanding to the text for today. Indeed, "there is no sin that shall damn the man who believes, and nothing can save the man who will not believe". Dear beloved in the Lord, believe and you shall be saved.  PRAYER: Thank You Lord that all it takes is for me to believe in Jesus to be saved. Teach my heart to believe and grant me strength in the faith. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. ...

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Not unto me but unto You alone my Lord and King be praised now and forevermore. Thank You for a divine day of Pentecost and the showers of blessings we enjoy from You daily. I bow and worship Your Majestic glory for there's none like You and none can be compared to You. It is written and forever remains written, "Tell the godly that all will be well for them. They will enjoy the rich reward they have earned!" Father in the Name of Jesus Christ, it is well with me in my health, finances, relationships, family, career, education, ministry, businesses, and all areas of my life. I decree in the Name of Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I shall enjoy every rich reward from the Lord devoid of any satanic contentions. AMEN! Isaiah 3:10

CHARACTER STUDY ~ ABEL

Abel was born to Adam and Eve as their second male child. He was a keeper of sheep. When the time came to sacrifice unto the Lord, he used the firstborn of his flock which was acceptable to the Lord. He was murdered by his elder brother Cain whose offering the Lord rejected.  Some Characteristics of Abel * He was the second born child of Adam and Eve * He was a shepherd * He understands offering to the Lord that was why he offered the firstborn of his flock. * He was murdered in the open field by his elder brother * His blood cried out to the Lord for vengeance. * He was righteous in the Lord's sight even to death. * He was a man of faith; he manifested faith through his offering and by faith, his blood speaks even in death. Supporting Scriptures; Genesis 4; Matthew 23:35; Hebrews 11:4; 22:24

DEVOTION ~ TRANSFORM YOUR WORLD

Theme: Transform Your World  Text: Acts 9:42&43 42  And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed on the Lord.  43  So it was that he stayed many days in Joppa with Simon, a tanner Every work of God Is evident and publicly made known from the days of the apostle to date. Having resuscitated Dorcas, it rapidly spread throughout Joppa. Those who doubted believed in the name of the Lord and those whose faith was wavering got strengthened. When we devote ourselves to the things of the Lord, we will transform the world. We will be able to reach every part of the earth with the Light of God's Word.  PRAYER: Thank You Lord for enlightening us on how to transform the world around us. Help us to trust in You and to lead others to believe in Your saving grace. This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ TABITHA, ARISE!

Theme: Tabitha, Arise! Text: Acts 9:40&41   40  But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.  41  Then he gave her  his  hand and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive. Having heard the lament of the widows, apostle Peter put them all out and did what was right. He went before the Lord in humility, knelt and prayed. He first faced the Lord before facing the dead body. We must learn to seek the Lord's face before facing any issue of life. Because Peter has encountered the Lord, he only gave a command to the dead body, " Tabitha, arise". Immediately she opened her eyes and sat up. We equally have this grace to command for it to be established. Peter presented Dorcas alive likewise can we also present dead situations with the fullness of life in Christ Jesus.  PRAYER: Than...

DEVOTION ~ A LIFE WELL LIVED

Theme: A Life Well Lived Text: Acts 9:39 39  Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought  him  to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them. We often leave behind the works we do when death knocks at our doors but the works will speak volumes in our absence. Dorcas died and was laid in the upper room awaiting apostle Peter's arrival whilst the widows cried showing her handworks. Dear beloved in the Lord, whatever work has been trusted to your care, or you find doing, do it well so you can attain a good name. Your works will be used as a memorial (whether you pass on or relocate).  Dorcas was remembered for the tunics and garments that give warmth and as well give protection. What will you be remembered for? Let every day count as you put smiles on the faces of others. PRAYER: Dear God, help me to leave a good footprint on this earth. Strengthen me to b...
