Theme: Power Over  Nations Text: Revelations 2 :18-29 Memory verse ~ Revelations 2:26 - 27 26. And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations- 27. ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’ Today's discussion is based on the church of Thyatira. With this church, the Lord Jesus introduced Himself as: He who has the eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass. The fire refines and proves if the church is worthy of its outward characteristics by showing forth the feet of the fine brass  as the eye is the light of the body( Zechariah 13 :7,  1 Peter 1:7, Matthew 6:22) Take note, the physical deeds of the church was evident for all to see. The church is noted for its work, love, service, faith, patience and how every new work exceeded the former. It was only when the church passed through the refiner's fire that its secret sins were ma...

Theme: The New Name Text: Revelations 2 :12-17 Memory verse ~ Revelations 2: 17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” Our focus today is on the church of Pergamum. It happens to be the third church mentioned. The Lord introduced Himself as, "He who has the sharp two-edged sword." The sharp two-edged sword is the Word of Truth. The truth is one and cannot be altered. The truth pierces deep into us. Most often, it is said, the truth is a bitter pill to swallow. The truth which is a bitter pill to swallow is often what people do not want to come to knowledge or terms with but it cannot be avoided. Just like a pill that must be swallowed, this fact must be taken in, so as to curb a situation. However, because it is a bitter pill, it may hurt or fe...

Theme: The Crown of Life Text: Revelations 2:8-11 Memory verse ~ Revelations 2:11 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death." The second identified church is, Smyrna believed to be the persecuted church. The Lord therefore, identifies Himself as the First and the Last, to emphasize that, at the end of all things, He has the final say. To soothe it better, He stated, He was dead( to atone for our sins) and came to life (resurrected to give us hope of a new life having conquered death) 1 Corinthians 15:26. The works of the church of Smyrna has been noted. Even their tribulations and neglect of the physical wealth. They are rich because they are coheirs in the kingdom with Christ. They possess gifts far richer than earthly wealth that will be eaten by moth. Dear beloved, the Bible is not saying that we should be poor or not work. Rather, we should not take pride in showing o...

Theme: Eating of the Tree of Life Text: Revelations 2:1-7 Memory verse: Revelations 2:7 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God"    The first church mentioned is the church of Ephesus. The church of Ephesus just like many of us, is zealous for the work of God. Ever ready to go the length and breadth of life for the gospel to be preached in its rightful perspective. Easily identifies false teachers, apostles, or prophets and bring them to light. Do you see yourself in this category of believers? What makes you think that you are having an Ephesus characteristics? Having all this is good and great but, be mindful not to forget your first love. Once you're focused on others  perfection to the gospel, you're likely to be swayed from the fellowship with the Triune God to the physical gratification. Your first love is G...

Theme: The Lamp-stands of His Presence. Text: Revelations 1:9-20 10. On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, 11. which said: "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea ." John received the revelation on the Island of Patmos. As believer, we need to avail ourselves for the Holy Spirit to have fellowship with us. This fellowship grants us grace to always approach the throne of grace with all confidence. The instruction given was for John to write the vision to the seven churches. In our dispensation, the church is us (individuals of the faith). This instruction is coming unto us to assess ourselves and live a worthy life in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Beloved, there's the need to read Revelations in the light of our relationship with the Savior. If we read or understand it in a contest th...

Theme: The Savior Returns as a Judge Text: Revelations 1:5-8 5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. The book of Revelation also know as the Apocalypse is detailed with what is to come on the last days and the Day of the Lord. There is but one Lord who redeemed us with His precious blood. He is the first to be resurrected from the dead and He lives forever. By taking up our sins to the cross, Chri...

Theme: Your Worth in Bringing Others to Christ Text: Jude 20-23 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction; 23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh. The epistle of Jude is essential to all believers to hold on to daily. It throws light on the shortcomings of humanity and the saving power of God. The Exodus is briefly highlighted likewise the fallen angels. It also mentioned crooks who have entered into the ministry (wolves in sheep skins). The text for our consideration today is on  building up our faith in all purity and drawing others to this saving grace. Without the word of God and constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit, it's impossible to keep our faith intact. The Word is a lamp unt...

Theme: Your Source of Strength Text: Jeremiah 17 :14-18 Memory verse: Jeremiah 17 :14 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. In the preceding verses (Jeremiah 17:5-13) we've learnt we should trust the Lord in all situations. Today's opening text tells us who God is. He is the Mighty Healer and Savior of the world. The Lord heals us of every ill heath; be it physical or spiritual. Whatever is your challenge in life, the Lord is able to heal and restore you. His saving grace is open to all who believe and call on him (Romans 10:13-14). Do not be discouraged by the blasphemous utterances of people towards the Lord. You may go through pain, but understand victory is yours if only you know the God you're serving (2 Corinthians 4:8-10). When you put your confidence in the Lord, He will never disappoint you in the days of trouble. Though He will chastised you, don't draw away from Him. For He chasten...

Theme: Who to Trust Text: Jeremiah 17:5-13 Memory verse: Jeremiah 17:7-8 7. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not [b]fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit. As mortals, we all take our strength from the Lord. Relying on another human in every circumstance and departing from the will of God is deadly.  Most often than not, the dictates of humanity usually does not have a complete assurance of a victorious end. Trusting others in every step you take can leave you empty like the shrubs in the desert that lacks moist to flourish. You are easily tossed by people's opinions (Psalm 1:4-6). However, when you put our trust in the Lord, you are prosperous because, you take delight in abiding in the Word and will of God (Psaml 1:1-3...

HAPPY EASTER

Theme: The Peace of God Text: John 20:19-23 19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. 21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” Having seen the affliction of their master and not finding His body in the tomb at the early hours of the morning, the heart of the disciples were filled with fear. Doubts manifest fear in our lives. When we begin to doubt the saving grace of God, fear eats into our hearts and cripples us. This was the situation of the disciples of Jesus Christ. All that...

Theme: The Resurrection Text: 1 Corinthians 15:20-22 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. The belief of every Christian is, there's life after death. We hold on to this because Christ died and was raised from the dead on the third day . Indeed, our Lord conquered death on the third day. He is the first to be given the power of the resurrection and He confessed it even before it happened (John 11:25). The wages of sin is death, the fall of Adam in Eden, led to the fall of all humanity. But thanks be to God, for sending Jesus to redeem us from the destruction of sin. His resurrection  is life to us. There would have been no hope for man if Christ had not been raised from the dead. Beloved, understand that, Jesus is the sure way to salvation. If we believe in H...

GOOD FRIDAY

Theme: It is Finished  Text: John 19:30   When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, It is finished: and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost. Indeed Jesus came to fufil all things. Having fulfilled all things to the fullest, His final word was, it is finished. Every hindrance has been removed and He has paved the way for man to reach God without struggles.  As Christ has said it is finished, so is every struggle of your life. Receive grace and power to overcome every storm of your life even now and forevermore in Jesus name. AMEN!  Happy Good Friday

MAUNDY THURSDAY

Theme: The Lessons of Gethsemane Text: Luke 22:39-62 Memory verse: Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Jesus is well noted for solemn prayers at the early hours of the day and at night (Luke 5:16). On the night of His betrayal, He went up to pray at Gethsemane. The lessons we can learn from this Gethsemane encounter of Jesus, His disciples and accusers are enormous. He first instructed the disciples to pray. As believers, we need to cultivate the habit of prayer. We need to teach our children, friends and everyone around us to develop passion for prayer. The Lord said, they should pray least they enter into temptation. It's unfortunate they slept instead. Beloved, we are in the world full of evildoers. We ought to watch and pray least they lure us into evil. The more our agony, the more earnestly we ought to pray. The prayer of Jesus should be our prayer in all circumstan...

Theme: Guard Your Heart and Thoughts From Evil Text: Luke 22:1-6 Memory verse: Luke 22 :3-4 3  Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve.  4  So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them.  The Passover feast commemorates the deliverance of Israel from slavery in Egypt (Exodus 12:18). As plans are underway for this to be observed in the days of Jesus, evil took the hearts of the leaders (Scribes and the Chief Priests) and a disciple - Judas Iscariot. This evil plot brought life to humanity than cutting short the expectations of those who flowed Jesus and listened to His teaching. Dear beloved, do not give chance to the devil to manipulate you in destroying others. As you go through this passion week, avail yourself for the Holy Spirit to use you rather than conforming to the devil's deceits. Be mindful the thoughts you have towards others. Is it good or bad? Will...

Theme: The power of having faith. Text: Matthew 21:18-27 Memory verse ~ Matthew 21:21-22 21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Jesus has power over every situation even to withering the fig tree. When one comes to the knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus, the individual needs what it takes to command every situation in life and that is faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. It gives good testimony (Hebrews 11:1-2).What kills faith is doubt. As believers, we need to hold on to our faith at all times. Jesus said, by faith we can be able to decree and it shall be established. Faith is mostly manifested when communicati...

Theme: The Living Sacrifice Text: Romans 12:1-2 12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. God's mercies is great and is renewed every morning towards humanity. Paul's plea is that, the church presents itself as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God. Sacrifices are sacred and often treated with all piety. When you live a life of a living sacrifice, then you are fleeing from or doing away with anything that contaminates you, either in heart or the mind. Your focus is solely to God and how well to please Him. Your body then paves way for the complete indwelling of the Holy Spirit for a reasonable service (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). Conforming to the world is...

Happy Palm Sunday

Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ rode on a colt triumphantly into Jerusalem. Today, His journey is into our hearts. He is knocking, let Him into your heart and live a fulfilled life. With one voice, let's shout, “Blessed (celebrated, praised) is the King who comes in the name of the Lord ! Peace in heaven and glory (majesty, splendor) in the highest [heaven]!” LUKE 19:38 AMP. AMEN!

Theme: The Blessings of the Righteous Text: Psalm 1:1-2 1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. There are promises from God for every act of good. Deuteronomy 28 is one good example of such promises. The first two verses of Deuteronomy 28 clearly states the benefits of hearkening to God's voice. The blessings shall overtake us. Today's text comes with promises if we lead a righteous life. Let's consider each condition in the text: Blessed is the man; ~ who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly. The counsel of the ungodly are counsels that deviate from the will and purpose of God. Jezebel's counsel to Ahab has been ungodly in taking Nabboth's vineyard (refer to 1 Kings 21). The result of an ungodly counsel is murder. ~Nor stands in the path of sinne...

Theme: Surrendering to God Text: Proverbs 3:5-8 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones In trusting God, we let go of our will and cling to the promises of God. Even when it does not make sense, we keep trusting in Him. This gives us a serenity of mind and heart not to worry. For the Lord will direct every area of our lives to divine expected end. We acknowledge the Lord in humility. James 4:7 makes it earlier to understand the verse 6 of today's text. In submitting to God, we are resisting all worldly pleasures and putting on the new man in Christ Jesus. In obedience, we are increased on all sides and this gives us a sound mind. Self destruction comes from within. Anyone who has the intent he's wise beyond correct...

Theme: Jesus our victorious weapon Text: Ephesians 6:17 Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation , and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. The helmet of salvation is Jesus Christ. No one can attain salvation without Him. In John 14:6 Jesus proclaims He is the only channel to the Father.  The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. The study of the Word of God gives us an upper hand over life`s challenges. For the Word is Jesus. John 1:1-4 emphasize that in Him all creation existed. The Word of God is evident in all creation - Genesis 1:3 & 26. Though the tempest will rage, yet we are comforted the ship where lies the master of ocean, earth and skies cannot wreck. For His peace will calm the storm of life if we trust Him through the storm. Prayer: Oh! God, increase my study of Thy Word and keep me in constant fellowship with You even now and forevermore in Jesus name. AMEN!

Theme: The Living Water Text: John 4:7-15 Memory verse: John 4:13-14 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Christ's interaction with the woman, to give him water from the well, is an awakening to us that, however sufficient we are with what we have, without Christ, it will mean nothing. The gift of God to humanity is Jesus Christ the Messiah of the world. Knowing Jesus is key to our eternal glory. We can freely ask of Him anything we desire and it shall be established John 16:24-26. The Living Water is eternal life. It is only by believing and accepting Jesus, that this living water can flow in our lives. It revives and reliefs us of our internal struggles. Our Lord though rich came in all lowliness to reach out to all. The woman was quick to noticed He had nothi...
