EASTER DECLARATION ~ DIVINE RESURRECTION

There are moments in life when we search for answers in the wrong places. Sometimes we feel the solution is where we know it should be but the twist of events can make us waste precious time at the wrong place. We need to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to assist us look at the right place. The women who brought spices on the first day of the week to smear on the body of Jesus met an empty tomb yet they were still searching for Him where He was not. The Angels declared to them in Luke 24:4&5 " And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.  Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?" It is high time we stop searching for the living among the dead. Our risen Christ represents every sphere of our lives that the breath of the Almighty has revived. We need to let faith work in every sphere of our lives. Declare, "In t...

EASTER DECLARATION ~ REUNION

Theme: Reunion Text: Luke 23:46 46 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last. In yesterday's devotion, we learned the Saviour on the cross said tetelesai (it is finished). Today's text focuses on what Jesus said before He gave up His Spirit. This word is recorded in Luke 23 verse 46 which is often referred to as a word of reunion with the Father. Christ knew just who He must entrust His Spirit to and that is the Almighty God. Entrusting our spirits to God means a total surrender and embracing the perfect will of God for our lives. Whatever we surrender to God can never be snatched by the evil one. This explains why Christ did not remain in the grave but rather resurrected. We ought to begin and end every phase of our lives with God, Christ began and ended with the Father and His ending is glorious to behold. Let us strive to reunite with God physically and spiritually daily. ...

EASTER DECLARATION ~ TRIUMPH

Theme: Triumph  Text: John 19:30   30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. The text for today will look at the word of triumph spoken by Jesus on the cross when He said "It is finished". He endured the pain, agony, and shame on the cross that He might give us victory. The Greek word translated as "It is finished" is tetelestai. Indeed Christ has conquered and given us victory on all sides. The fulfillment of the new covenant was established on the cross by the shedding of the Blood of the innocent for the guilty. The burden of the high priest to enter into the Most Holy place in fear has been overpowered. Our own flaws which have become a barrier to directly accessing God have been removed for us to enter into His presence in boldness. What Christ awaits after nailing all burdens to the cross is the resurrection. He has fulfilled every prophecy and so His declaration it is finished is a tri...

EASTER DECLARATION ~ DISTRESS

Theme: Distress Text: John 19:28 28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” Today's devotion focuses on the fifth saying of Jesus on the cross which is taken from John 19 verse 28. The Lord's cry is a fulfillment of scripture in Psalm 69:21 " They also gave me gall for my food, a nd for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink" .  Indeed, those who crucified Him offered vinegar instead of water to quench His thirst. On the cross, the Saviour has nailed our spiritual thirst and invites us who thirst to drink from His living fountain. He said to the Samaritan woman at the well   “Whoever drinks of this water (natural water of the well) will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life (John 4:13&14).” Our spiritual thirst can cause dis...

EASTER DECLARATION ~ ABANDONMENT

Theme: Abandonment  Text: Matthew 27:46 or Mark 15:34 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” In yesterday's devotion, we learned that Jesus entrusted the care of His mother to John to encourage us to relate well with all irrespective of our diversity. Today's devotion is on Christ's abandonment on the cross which was recorded in the Gospel of Matthew and Mark. About the ninth hour,  Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” This outcry of Christ at that time to those standing watching was a cry calling on Elijah for help. However, the Lord was rather expressing His disconnection from God due to the sins of the wor...

EASTER DECLARATION ~ RELATIONSHIP

Theme: Relationship  Text: John 19:26&27 26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. In yesterday's devotion, we looked at the second word spoken by Jesus on the cross which is concerned with salvation. Today's devotion will look at the third speech which is about relationships. Throughout His suffering, His mother has been in a close walk with Him to the cross. The apostle John was there with Mary the mother of Jesus probably consoling her. Jesus established a relationship when He saw the two right where He was nailed to the cross. He entrusted His mother to the care of John. In Christ, we are one big family therefore, we need to relate well with each other. We should not only address those we relate to by blood as family, but rather anyone who joins the Christendom shoul...

EASTER DECLARATION ~ SALVATION

Theme: Salvation Text: Luke 23:43 43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” In yesterday's devotion, we started learning about the seven sayings of Jesus Christ on the cross. The first we learned is about forgiveness. Today's focus is on the assurance of salvation to one of the criminals nailed to the cross with Jesus. Where sin is pardoned, the door of salvation is opened. Jesus an innocent Man was hung on the cross with two other criminals, one to the right and the other to the left. One of the criminals blasphemed Him to save them if really He has the power to save. Most of us dare God daily like this criminal. However, the other criminal recognized they were paying the penalty for their sins but not so with Jesus. He sought mercy and he obtained the salvation of his soul that very day. Acknowledging our sins before God brings His pardon and opens the door of salvation to us. The perfect resting place for o ur souls  is in Pa...

EASTER DECLARATION ~ FORGIVENESS

Theme: Forgiveness Text: Luke 23:34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” Today marks Palm Sunday leading to Easter. Palm Sunday is Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. He rode on a colt while people threw clothes and palm branches on the ground for Him to ride on declaring “Hosanna to the Son of David!  ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’  Hosanna in the highest!” - Matthew 21:1-11   For this week our focus will be on the final seven words of Jesus Christ on the cross. Each day will present a Word through to Holy Saturday. Today's devotion will focus on the word of forgiveness from Luke 23:34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” Forgiveness is essential both spiritually and physically. Before Jesus laid His life for us, an offender needs to approach the priest with his sin offering to be pardoned laying it on the animal as long as he sins. However, Jesus the Lamb of G...

CHARACTER STUDY ~ PETER

Peter also known as Simon Bar-Jona and Cephas was a fisherman. The name Peter means "rock or stone". His brother was Andrews who was also a disciple of Jesus Christ. When called to follow Christ he wholeheartedly followed Him. He was part of the inner circle of Jesus Christ and was present with Him until he denied Him during His trial. Some Characteristics of Peter:    ✔ It was his boat that was used to preach by Jesus and was asked to launch his net into the deep to catch fish after toiling all night. If we rent our resources for Christ in the advancement of His Kingdom, He will make us launch into the depths of prosperity. ✔ He was present when Jesus performed significant miracles such as the healing of his mother-in-law, the blind, lame, and other forms of health and spiritual issues, and the resuscitation of Lazarus and the daughter of Jairus. We will experience miracles if we have a closer walk with Christ. ✔ He caught the revelation that Jesus is the Messiah and Chr...

DEVOTION ~ SENT TO BLESS YOU

Theme: Sent to Bless You Text: Acts 3:26 26 To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.” In the previous devotion, we learned that we are children of the covenant in Christ Jesus. The text for today throws light on the essence of the resurrection of our Saviour. God did not allow the body of Jesus to decay or see corruption in the grave because of us. He gave Him the power to resurrect so that we can receive the blessing of God where our sins are pardoned. Sin has been a barrier to accessing the blessing of God and anyone who desires to be blessed must first seek forgiveness by the blood of bulls. However, our Great High Priest Jesus Christ, has laid His life for us so that we may easily access this blessing when we confess our sins. The Lord gives wealth and adds no sorrow so, if you want blessings of any kind, turn to God and He shall bless you beyond measure. All your blessings are in Christ Je...

DEVOTION ~ YOU ARE A COVENANT CHILD

Theme: You are a Covenant Child Text: Acts 3:24&25 24 Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days. 25 You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ God established a covenant with Abraham to bless the families of the earth through him. This covenant materialized in Christ Jesus. There is no contradiction in what was said by the prophets of God concerning this covenant in Christ Jesus. They all look forward to the fulfillment of it. Dear beloved in the Lord you are a child of covenant and in you shall blessings flow to others. If God has kept His covenant with Abraham over thousands of years and still holds on to it, what is there that He cannot do for you? Do not be defined by your challenges but rather define the challenge by who you are in Christ Jesus.  Never attempt to detach yours...

DEVOTION ~ LISTEN CAREFULLY

Theme: Listen Carefully Text: Acts 3:22&23 22 For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. 23 And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’  Communication is a two-way affair: speaking and listening. Our relationship with God is well-established through communication. We ought to learn to listen to Him than make endless petitions to Him. God has already raised Jesus Christ for us to be a guide to our pilgrimage on this earth. We listen to Him through the Word in the Bible as we read and meditate on it. If we are not paying attention to the directions of the Lord, then we could be easily distracted by the evil one. If we do not listen carefully we shall be destroyed through deceit that leads astray. Do you listen carefully to the Lord when He communicates to you through the Word of ...

DEVOTION ~ RESTORATION OF ALL THINGS

Theme: Restoration of All Things Text: Acts 3:20&21   20 and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, 21 whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.  In yesterday's devotion, we learned that if we repent and come to penitence, we shall enjoy the times of refreshing in the presence of the Lord. Today's devotion will look at the restoration of all things in Christ Jesus. If we repent, then we need to welcome Jesus into our lives for it is only in Him we can have a place in the presence of God. Jesus has ascended into heaven and will return to restore this broken evil world to its original glory as stated in scripture. However, His presence in Your life can give you a foretaste of what is to come. You can only know the worth of life if you know Jesus and you have no life if you do not have Jesus. Therefore, the restoration of your life, marriage...

DEVOTION ~ TIMES OF REFRESHING

Theme: Times of  Refreshing  Text: Acts 3:19 19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord To be refreshed means to be given new strength or energy. We have been created to have a refreshing moment daily without fail. However, our sins have caused a hindrance to attaining this daily refreshing in the Lord. We are called to repent and come to penitence for our sins to be erased with the Blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. It is written, that if we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from every unrighteousness. The Lord has also said, though our sins be like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow and though they be red like crimson they shall be as white as wool. Dear beloved in the Lord, do you desire times of refreshing in your health, marriage, career, education, projects, and all spheres of your life? Then, it is ...

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

The essence of doors to any building is to allow easy access to it. Just as doors are opened to usher us into a building, we need to have divine supernatural opening to gain access to greater exploits in life. Sometimes life can spew ugly situations at us like the man who was deaf and had a speech impediment. He was brought to Jesus that He might heal him. Mark 7:34&35 states, And looking up to heaven, He sighed and said to him, "Ephphatha" that is , "Be opened". The Messiah used the Aramaic word "Ephphatha" which means "Be opened" to release the man from his ugly situations. Likewise can we through faith in the Name of Jesus command divine opening to our breakthroughs, liberations and testimonies.  Declare, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, I employ the fingers of God to give a divine touch to every area of my life to lose me from any form of life's setbacks. I decree by the power of the Holy Spirit, Ephphatha to the doors of my good he...

CHARACTER STUDY ~ JOHN SON OF ZEBEDEE

The name John is a male Hebrew name which means "God is gracious." He was a disciple of Jesus Christ. His parents were Zebedee and Salome. His brother was James. He and his brother were nicknamed Boanerges which means the sons of thunder. He was a close associate of Jesus and often referred to as the disciple whom Jesus loved.     Some Characteristics of John the son of Zebedee: ✔ He was present when Jesus performed significant miracles such as the healing of Peter’s mother-in-law, blind, lame, and other forms of health and spiritual issues, and the resuscitation of Lazarus and the daughter of Jairus. We will experience miracles if we have a closer walk with Christ. ✔  He experienced the analogy of becoming fishers of men when Christ caused them to have a great harvest of fish. We are called to harvest souls for the Kingdom of God through evangelism. ✔  He was not tolerable to others performing miracles in the Name of Jesus who were not a part of them....

DEVOTION ~ THE FULFILLMENT OF GOD'S PROMISES

Theme: The Fulfillment of God's Promises Text: Acts 3:17&18 17 “Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 18 But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. In yesterday's devotion, we learned that in Christ we will have perfect soundness if we have faith in Him and His Name. Today's text delves into the fulfilled promise of God in the life of Jesus Christ. At the time of His suffering, the accusers of Jesus Christ acted ignorantly (not knowing they were fulfilling scripture) when they handed Him over to be crucified. If you are in Christ then understand that, when the wicked rise against you with the intent to harm you, the evil they have schemed shall turn out for your good. Whatever God has said concerning your life shall not fail no matter the devises of your adversaries to frustrate it. There is hope for a better tomorrow if you remain faithful to God...

DEVOTION ~ PERFECT SOUNDNESS

Theme: Perfect Soundness Text: Acts 3:16 16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. Our previous devotions have been on the lame man healed at the Beautiful Gate of which Peter now justifies the source of power for the healing. Today's devotion elaborates on what we shall obtain in Christ if we put our faith in Him. The Name of Jesus our Lord, is a strong tower the righteous ran into and are saved. Anyone who has faith in Christ must first understand the efficacy of the Name. This faith does the supernatural in our lives by transforming us from nothingness to greatness. There is perfect soundness in the Name of Jesus Christ. Soundness is a state of being in good condition. Therefore, to have perfect soundness implies a state of being in good condition overflowing with peace of mind devoid of any setback or limitation. Nothing cou...

DEVOTION ~ DIVINE EXCHANGE

Theme: Divine Exchange Text: Acts 3:14&15 14 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. In yesterday's devotion, we learned that Jesus is the glorified Servant who was betrayed. In the text for study today, we will look at the divine exchange that took place right before Pilate and all the multitude that kept seeking that Christ be crucified.  Have you ever faced trial or had to witness in the dock in the courtroom? How did you feel? I guess many who had to face trial or witness in the dock for the first time were frightened and just didn't know what the outcome would be. Jesus the Holy One stepped in for us when we should have been pronounced guilty. The murderer that was exchanged Barabbas represented us all who stood guilty before God. Yet the Prince of life gave His life that we may be pardoned and receive life to the fullest. In th...

DEVOTION ~ GLORIFIED SERVANT

Theme: Glorified Servant Text: Acts 3:13 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate when he was determined to let Him go. In yesterday's devotion, we learned that many marveled at the healing of the lame man of which Peter revealed to them it is not by their power or godliness that he was healed. The text for today introduces us to the source of the power to heal the lame man. He began by first acknowledging God and His established relationship with them all ( The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers). He further throws light on the godly One, Jesus Christ. He is the glorified Servant of God whom they delivered up for trial and denied Him in the presence of Pilate. The glorified Servant of God though had the chance to have been pardoned, yet His accusers sought to frustrate it. Dear beloved in the Lord, let the life of the glorified Servant Jesus be an ...

DEVOTION ~ YOUR LIFE SHALL MARVEL MANY

Theme: Your Life Shall Marvel Many Text: Acts 3:11&12 11 Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. 12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? In previous devotion, we learned a man was healed at the Beautiful Gate to the temple. The text for today is what transpired when people saw what happened. It has been stated that  all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. The Hand of God always produces results that marvel people and no one has ever been able to fathom His marvelous works in the lives of His beloved children. Dear beloved in the Lord, unlike most workers of miracles in our dispensation who want to claim a miracle in their name, Peter and John did otherwise. Pete...

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Do you feel defenseless one way or the other in life? There is a Defender for the defenseless He is Jehovah God. It is written in Exodus 22:22&23 "You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child. If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry". Any area of your life can present an ugly situation that can make you defenseless but if you lay that situation before God, He will fight for you. There's no need to exchange words with your adversaries just channel the energy on your knees in prayer petitioning your request to Him.  Declare, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, I command every affliction in my life, marriage, family, health, finances, career, businesses, education, projects, properties, ministries, and every sphere of my life to dry up, wither, and be driven like chaff into the abyss. Almighty God, hear my cry for help and help me for no one has ever come to You for help that you have ever disappointed. I decree the H...

CHARACTER STUDY ~ JAMES SON OF ZEBEDEE

The name James is a Hebrew name from the name Jacob which means "Supplanter" and is sometimes expressed to mean "May God protect". He was the son of Zebedee and Salome. His brother is John and they were nicknamed Boanerges, which means, the sons of thunder.    Some Characteristics of James: ✔ He was among the first called disciples of Jesus Christ. He was called by Jesus to follow Him while mending his father's fishing net with his brother John.  ✔ He was a part of the inner core disciples and was found around Jesus. He was a close companion to Jesus and was often in the company of John and Peter. He was a disciple who was ever ready to follow the Lord and this we must learn from. We must follow Jesus wholeheartedly and fix our schedules in His itinerary for our lives rather than fix Him in our schedules.    ✔ He was with Jesus when the daughter of Jairus was raised to live and was with Jesus when Peter's mother-in-law was healed of a fever. If we walk with...

DEVOTION ~ FILLED WITH WONDER

Theme: Filled with Wonder Text: Acts 3:9&10   9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. In yesterday's devotion, we learned that the lame man at the Beautiful Gate received his healing and for the first time entered the temple praising God. In the text for today, his presence in the temple amazed people. Likewise, will many people be filled with wonder and amazement when God perfects His glory in your life. There is nothing difficult for God to do if we trust our burdens to Him. The Hand of God can transform your life of misery into wonder and amazement. Your past shall not define you again because you will receive a new life in Christ Jesus. No one has ever trusted God and got disappointed in life. Let the life of this lame man encourage you to know all hope is not lost and that God can come throug...

DEVOTION ~ ENTER YOUR BREAKTHROUGH

Theme: Enter Your Breakthrough Text: Acts 3:7&8   7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. In yesterday's devotion, we learned about making good use of what we have and paying attention to the giver rather than the gift. The text for today is the miracle performed in the life of the lame man at the beautiful Gate. His weak feet and ankle bones received strength because there had been a divine encounter. Dear beloved in the Lord if you dedicate your focus to God, He will take you by your hand and position you at a place of honor. Your joy shall surpass the joy of this man. He who could not enter the temple entered it walking, leaping, and praising God. Hallelujah! When you encounter the power of Jesus' touch, you will enter into your breakthroughs with ease. Whatever had held you from entering i...

DEVOTION ~ WHAT DO YOU HAVE?

Theme: What Do You Have?  Text: Acts 3:4-6 4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.” 5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”  In yesterday's devotion, we learned that a lame man lay at the entrance of the temple gate called Beautiful yet his life was contrary to the gate's name. He often lay at the Beautiful gate to ask for alms from those entering the temple. He encountered John and Peter asking them for alms. The text for today is the response to his quest. The lame man gave them the needed attention so that he could get something from them but the unexpected happened. Peter gave what he had, reiterating that, you cannot give what you do not have. What do you have to offer in your family, workplace, church, community, nation, and the world? Never underrate the potential you ...

DEVOTION ~ BEAUTIFUL, YET NOT

Theme: Beautiful, Yet Not Text: Acts 3:2&3   2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; 3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.  In yesterday's devotion, we learned that John and Peter went to the temple to pray at the hour of prayer. The text for consideration today is an encounter that took place at the entrance to the temple. The name of the gate at which this took place is Beautiful yet a lame helpless man lay there whose life contradicts the name of the gate: His life was not beautiful. His livelihood depends on the alms he receives from those entering the temple. On this fateful day, John and Peter also came to pray passing through that very gate there the young man encountered them and their God.  What ugly situation is weighing you down at the gate of beautiful: great marriage yet no issu...

DEVOTION ~ HOUR OF PRAYER

Theme: Hour of Prayer Text: Acts 3:1 3 Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.  The apostles continued in a purified devotion of not neglecting the gathering of the believers. Usually, the believers go to the temple to pray at the hour of prayer: 6am, 9am, 12 noon, 3pm, and 6pm. In our dispensation where our schedules seem to overweigh us, most of us have given up on prayer. Prayer is of the essence in our spiritual and physical journey as Christians. Failing to pray exposes us to the evil arrows of the wicked. Dear beloved in the Lord, we need to schedule the hour of prayer either corporate or solitude. The duration of the prayer should not be a challenge as if we willed to communicate with God, we can even in less than a minute. Let us learn from John and Peter to keep to our prayer schedules. Pray without ceasing! PRAYER: Almighty God, I humbly ask for spiritual nudging to embrace prayer and to pray without ceasing. May I pray in...

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Godliness is what God requires of us and He shows forth great and awesome works of miracles in our lives if we gladly follow Him. There is nothing God cannot do if we walk faithfully with Him. Our prayer for help should tone in line with Isaiah 64:4&5 "For since the world began,  no ear has heard  and no eye has seen a God like you,  who works for those who wait for him!  You welcome those who gladly do good,  who follow godly ways.  But you have been very angry with us,  for we are not godly.  We are constant sinners;  how can people like us be saved?" Our salvation is in Christ Jesus and by Him, we are secured and saved. Declare, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, I surrender my whole life to God and I confess my sins of bitterness, unforgiveness, ungodliness, pervasiveness, willful, presumptuous, and secret sins. Lord have mercy on me for with You is forgiveness of sin if we confess. I decree, I no longer walk the path of deceit or ungodlin...

CHARACTER STUDY ~ HIGH PRIEST AHIMELECH

The name Ahimelech means brother of the King. He was a high priest during the reign of King Saul and a friend to David son of Jesse. He was the son of Ahitub and the father of Abiathar.  Some Characteristics of Ahimelech the High Priest:  ✔ He fed David and his companions with the Showbread ensuring first they had not defiled themselves to provoke the wrath of God. We ought to learn from him not to desecrate the things of God. We must keep the sacred and holy things of God as they ought to be.  ✔ He gave the sword of Goliath the Philistine to David. When asked about weapons he sincerely made known to David the only available weapon belonged to Goliath whom he killed.     ✔ He was killed by King Saul. Doeg the Edomite reported him to King Saul to have aided David. The King became furious and asked his men to kill the priest and his father's household but they could not because he was a priest of the Lord. However, when the King instructed Doeg the Edomi...

DEVOTION ~ LORD OF THE SABBATH

Theme: Lord of the Sabbath Text: Mark 2:27&28 27 And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. 28 Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.” In yesterday's devotion, we established that if we claim to abide by the laws of God but fail to meet God's intent for the law, then it is of no use. Jesus' statement in the text for consideration gives a summarized opinion of all we have looked at in previous devotions concerning His disciples violating the law of the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath reveals that the Sabbath is meant to serve human needs of having a closer fellowship with God. This is where the legalistic Pharisees miss the mark as their laid-down principles do not conform to what God desires the Sabbath to be for mankind. The act of Ahimelech in yesterday's devotion demonstrates what it means the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. Do good on the Sabbath and s...
